Blue Gulf Technologies (BGT) provides targeted IT and cybersecurity services for the maritime industry that address the requirements of large-scale new build projects:
Network Segregation for Vessels: BGT specializes in designing and implementing network segregation to isolate critical shipboard systems (OT) from administrative or crew networks (IT), which is essential for complying with IMO 2021 and IACS UR E26/E27 standards.
New Build Support: They provide vessel IT support including designing shipboard LAN/Wi-Fi, configuring industrial routers and switches, and managing structured cabling for new vessels.
Cybersecurity & Compliance: Their services include firewall implementation, advanced endpoint protection, and cybersecurity audits tailored to maritime infrastructure
MSC is currently undergoing significant technical transitions where such services are highly applicable:
New Build Program: MSC has a massive newbuilding program, including orders for ultra-large container ships (e.g., 22,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel vessels) slated for delivery through 2029.
Network Hardening: MSC has recently prioritised network segmentation across its global operations to manage growing complexity, previously achieving high levels of segmentation using Zero Networks for its Azure-based systems.
Digitalisation Goals: The company is partnering with various tech firms to support its digital transformation and secure IT management across its fleet.

Project Scope in China Shipyards
Blue Gulf Technologies (BGT) acts as a specialized maritime IT integrator, supporting MSC’s projects across major Chinese yards like Zhoushan Changhong International, Hengli Heavy Industry (Dalian), Fujian Huadong Shipyard, China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) Jiangsu and Singapore ports. Key technical objectives include:
Network Segregation: BGT assist to impelemt the logical separation between Operational Technology (OT) by vLans—such as engine control systems and navigation—and Information Technology (IT) networks used for crew welfare and administrative tasks. This prevents cross-contamination during potential cyber incidents.
Hardware Commissioning: Managing the installation and seting up of industrial-grade routers, firewalls, and Wi-Fi access points specifically for the rugged maritime environment with MSC appointed vendors.
